Thailand
As people prayed over me for my time in Thailand a lot of them kept saying it was going to be time of rest and relaxing. Yet no matter how many people said that, I didn’t really believe them.
Here I am a week into my time in Thailand and that’s exactly what it has been. My first day was spent in Bangkok living normal life with a friend from youth group. We hadn’t seen each other in over five years, she’s now married and has a beautiful one year old girl. It was so nice to catch up, hear what God’s been doing, and not have to be shown all the sites or a burden to them.
I then flew up to Chiang Mai, yep I spent the extra money as an overnight bus didn’t sound very fun. The house that I am staying in is full of amazing people! There was a World Race team of guys here for a few days, one of them is a good friend and it was awesome to catch up with him. I had forgotten that it’s cheaper to eat out then actually cook most of the time. Chiang Mai has a large number of tourists and foreigners, making the variety of restaurants endless.
The people / ministry that I am here visiting are in the middle of a short down season. This means there is lots of resting happening. I went with a few others camping one night along a local river, it was nice to be around some people outside of our organizations. Yesterday we went to a waterfall that was covered in limestone making it easy to hike up and down. Being that it’s the start of the hot season we are spending most of our time either inside or in the water 🙂
I still don’t really know if this is where God wants me full-time. There is a piece that I know it is just my choice… but I still want to hear from God what His thoughts are. There are options here at Outpour Movement and all over Thailand and the world. For the moment I am trying to embrace the silence and the stillness, to relax and enjoy my time here.
Enjoy your time of rest & rejuvination. It has been earned & is well deserved.
