We just finished training camp for the January 2009 world race squad. It was an intense 10 days. This group was probably one of the most open groups I have been around. They held nothing back during the first four days as they focused on their personal relationship with the Lord. During their cross walk I got to pray with many of them at the half way point, it was amazing to see different people come down off the hill than went up. Even though it was cold as fall decided to arrive in full force during the week, we had a great time camping and being outdoors.

Probably one of the biggest jobs of being on fulltime staff is creating the teams… this is a huge job since they will be in these teams for 11 months. Again it was totally a God thing! Everyone might not have fully understood why they were on the teams that they were, but each team is healthy – having people who will pour into them and challenge them. there is so much joy in seeing them begin to bond as a squad and a team. There are 54 racers who were put on 8 teams, our biggest group yet!

One of the other great things was that my mom was able to come during training camp! She came to be a part of the ‘BreakThru’ conference that AIM was holding during the weekend, and then to serve the world race staff in anyway she could. It was awesome to have her come and see what I do, meet my amazing community, and receive some of the best teaching. Because she was here during one of my busiest times of the year we didn’t get to spend as much time together as we would have liked, but it was good none the less.
